The dynamics of female role models in the shaping of individual identity, 2003.

Gillespie researches the positive (and sometimes negative) effects of female role models, including role models in the media, at home, and in the community. She finds that women select and then reject role models as they evolve and as their values and ideals change, and suggests that women especially find meaning and direction within groups of talented people.
